Stair lifts
« on: December 02, 2014, 07:26:32 PM »
Hi, Can anyone recommend a company who sell/rent &  install stairlifts? my parents are in their 80's and increasingly struggling to get around. A lift has been recommended by the hospital but as I don't live in the area have no idea who to contact. A search on DCCC trusted traders (which is very good for some things) primarily leads to providers of shopping scooters. I would be grateful for any information you can offer.  Thanks

Though not the cheapest, Acorn stairlifts are one of the most trusted and respected companies in this field.
Deal with the company direct, not a supplier or subsidiary company.
Give me a mo :-)

Welcome to the forum fransdad.
We have had a Gimson stairlift installed years ago for my daughter.
It was organised by social services back then but I suppose things have changed since then.
Just a thought but any chance of parents moving to a bungalow.

Hi Everyone,  Thanks for your response to this.  Acorn came over and installed it within a week. The installer was very good and even helped to unpack my parents' food delivery!!.  All that needs to happen now is for my parents to use it........

I'm glad you got it sorted for them. I'm sure they'll soon get used to using it  (y)
