Looks like new businesses are coming to Chesterfield one of which is a "pub" taking over the old Bank of Scotland premises at the top of Stevenson place... another is a bakery, what makes them think they will be a success here when Birds the bakers couldn't make it pay?
It's ok trying to re vitalise the town but as fast as one business moves in one disappears, the amount of empty floor space in Chesterfield is frightening, and it will stay like that for the foreseeable future.
What would YOU do if you were on the planning council in Chesterfield??
I know what I would do, I would sort out Chesterfield once and for all, firstly by getting everything between Markham road and Burlington street and bulldoze the lot of it flat.......the precinct, Vicar lane, Low pavement and the Market hall get rid, rebuild the retail park up there instead because lets face it the retail park, where it is, WILL flood again...and again.
Then move all thriving businesses into the remaining premises up to the new bus station on the donut r/about.
