Road rage attacks, are they becoming more common and aggressive?

With the tragic road rage murder at Sussex is it time to bring in a new law or tighten up laws on this behaviour? I witnessed a few road rages but none as bad as the Sussex case, it seems some drivers as soon as they enter their cars have a change of personality and the first little thing bang off they go.

A very good question only the guy who did this has the answer, its surprizing how many people carry weapons in the street without us knowing. At one time the Police used to stop and search people who they thought might be carrying weapons , that came about after the high profile cases. No idea if they still have that policy. Off topic read this morning about five people who put bricks though windows of a passing Manchester tram, it caused the tram to derail luckily no one was hurt in this case but it shows the way our society is going and with less Police on the beat it set to get worse.

Sorry slightly off topic again, but vandalism on the railway is commonplace I'm afraid, only last Wednesday I hit debris at 60mph that had been placed on the track which caused damage to the train, and at the same time rocks etc were hurled at the train as we passed by, one chap was hit by a piece of flying metal that came in through an open window but luckily he was unhurt. Of course it was reported but that's about as far as it goes.

The question should be why has this become commonplace, never had these problems before and its getting out of hand now. The Misses seem to thing that society is slowly coming apart, perhaps she right ?

I suspect that acts of vandalism, attacks on the person and so on have always taken place but communication is far quicker and easier these days so we hear more, sooner and from a wider area.

I think Dave nails it, we get to hear more and quicker because of modern communications.

My thoughts concur - I don't think we are seeing any major increase in this sort of crime - but it sells newspapers.

Perhaps, but a lot of crime goes unrecorded so we never given a full true picture of crime.

A lot of crime goes unreported because people know the police won't investigate it.

When one of our cars was vandalised by someone jumping on the roof, the police call handler gave me a crime number and told me he was closing the case in the same phone call even though I saw it happen and gave a detailed description on the person responsible and his two mates.

The  reason is the Police now seldom bother looking into crime has they don't have the manpower to do anything. . Direct result of the cuts and criminals know it.

Ah the one and only Darnell, I guessing the offenders lets say are of the non white variety?

Well, it's possible but as I said I did not see anyone at the time, and of course the plod did not rush out to take a better look!
