Without a doubt Manor estate at Sheffield where I lived for a while. Mrs Wolfbanger hails from Holmewood apparently she refuses to go back..

Salford. As a student there was at times a danger from local youths

Not quite sure what is meant by 'toughest', perhaps it should be 'roughest'. BAOR HQ would have to be top of my list.

I wouldn't say any place i lived was particularly rough lived in Shuttlewood, bolsover Model village in carrvale and now town. However if i go by what the worst was from my point of view this was Shuttlewood, this comes from a personal point though as I was pretty miserable down there. But never had to deal with any drunks, drugs or crime. Now you only have to walk through town to be met with that...

Me too, never lived in a neighborhood that was dangerous.

It got a bit hairy on occasion when I lived in Bolsover, but that was just boys being boys.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

perhaps it have been better worded with rough than toughest. Anyway when I lived on the Manor wasn't uncommon for cars to be set alight after been used as 'boy racing ' cars or neighbour fallouts that resulted in the council coming out to replace the window's on a regular basis. Nice place Sheffield.

Are you a Sheffield lad born and bred then R.W ?
Have to admit I've never lived there and have obviously led a sheltered life as always have lived in decent areas.

Yes born at Sheffield, worked at Forgemasters until got finished their. Meet the wife and then moved here to Chesterfield after marrying. Sheffield has its charms but depends where you live, like everywhere else really.

Used to go to Sheffield shopping for the day ( and I mean for the DAY ) with my mate back in the 70's/80's but that's about all apart from having a boyfriend who lived there and went to his home a few times  ;)

Don't like meadow hell so don't go shopping there anymore

I'm not a fan of Meadowhall, it simply killed off the city centre. I do go back now and again to see family . Sheffield changed a vast amount since leaving it to come to Chesterfield,  some for good others not so just needs a boost economic wise.
