Aldi
« on: June 25, 2015, 11:11:47 AM »
I see Aldi are setting up an information day July 2nd I think in Clay Cross for the proposed store, also one is planned for Eckington.
Just a thought but how would Aldi be received in Bolsover if they came seeing as Morrisons have pulled out

Presume the Clay Cross one will be for the Haus Herr site oppersite the Tesco filling station?

Rumours were that they were going to be on the proposed new development oppersite the snooker centre, but they have put an objection into that planning saying they have an agreement with the owners of the land that Haus Herr stands on.

Personally the sooner the better, means the Mrs won't have to go to Alfreton Aldi anymore, and she hates trying to get to Chesterfield one

Welcome to the forum Steve.

Yes that's the one Steve, we originally thought it was going to be built on the new development - have you see the size of the development area? Not sure what else will go on there.
Only sure thing is more traffic lights on Derby road  :-?

I take daughter to Lidl in Chesterfield so it will be nearer for us as well if they do open up there.

I reckon it will kill Market street in Clay Cross off altogether though which I find sad - do you think the long standing shops such as the Strawberry Basket will with stand it?

Demolition of the building on the Aldi site at Eckington has already started. It's near to one of my regular taxi jobs  :)

Thanks for the welcome

Not sure on that one, I think they stand a better chance with the Haus Herr site as its still close by, where as the Bi Waters one is a bit too out of the centre.

Sorry steve I seem to have missed your first post back in December  :(
Welcome to chesterfieldonline  :)

According to the Derbo Times, it is to be built on the Haus Herr site if they get the go ahead.
Can't see why they shouldn't TBH.

I would have liked to have gone to the information day but not sure if I can make it.
There are very few shops left now in Clay Cross since Tesco arrived, but I reckon Aldi will give Tesco some tough competition.

Aldi 'should' take a large amount of business from Tesco.  Tesco customer service is pathetic, on a good day.  Prices are extortionate.

I hope Aldi do. I wish nothing but bad fortune on Tesco - may they rot... etc etc.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Try to think positive, wishing bad on someone isn't constructive.   Explain why you want someone to rot?

Because they drive small local businesses out of business, pay grotesquely low wages, drive local farmers to brink of bankrupcy - and are so inept, even with all the power and clout they command they cannot run a successful business, managing to lose millions of pounds as announced a few months ago.

I wouldn't piss on 'em if they were on fire.

What is the current pay structure of Tesco?
For the last 35 years, all i have heard is that farmers are low paid.  Do you know their current salaries?
A business with a good accountant will show little or no profit.  If you had a business you would do the same.

I have actually read in the paper today that Tesco shareholders are not happy with the 'below' living wage which Tesco are paying it's staff.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3141191/Tesco-shareholders-attack-bosses-staff-s-slave-wages.html

Having said this I have also read that Tesco's are not alone in this as some other supermarkets are also guilty of the same pracitise.
