I called at the Spire this morning to take a few shots of the new 'Bee'.
I was lucky enough to meet, and have a chat with the wooden sculptures artist Andrew Frost, and Peter Corke, sustainability officer at Chesterfield Borough Council. I asked what was to become of the sculpture when it was finally finished.
Peter explained that the sculpture was to stay in it's present location for the entire span of it's life.
The chance that it may get vandalised will hopefully not be the outcome. They both hope the people and visitors of Chesterfield will welcome and cherish the new addition to the grounds of the town's iconic Church.
So do I, it's a great little piece of work, I love it
I didn't ask how much it had cost, but the borough council and various other organisations funded the sculpture.
People would still complain if it was done for a pittance mind
Andrew also removed the board under the Bee's proboscis whilst I was there. These may be some of the first photo's online without it in place
