This Is Not The Sort Of Thing We Do!
« on: October 12, 2014, 08:56:29 PM »
In my early days of learning the art of photography and the delights of Urban Exploring I found out there was a photography group based in Chesterfield, the group met in the towns Library once a mouth I thought just my thing so planned to go to the next meeting. The day arrived so off I went. Got to the lecture theatre there was a small group milling around then the time arrived to go in. Then the room went dark a projector came on the beam reviled on a screen some photos taken by a oversea photographer some of the photos were truly strange to the dam right weird some in the room praised the photos others looked bored to tears I belonged to the latter. Then the lightI back on a lady ask what people thought of these photos it went all quite you could have heard a mouse playing a banjo it was that quite. Then the lady made a fatal mistake she asked me what I thought of the said photos feeling many pair of eyeballs were on me a sort of moment you see on TV when a host ask that  question you know they must get it right or they lose the game.

:-[ I repiled they weren't my thing and didn't aspire me. The room went quite very quite was expecting a couple of heavy's to enter the room and remove me from my seat. Then the silence was broken by a sharp sounding voice 'so what do you photo then ?' feeling brave I said pubs the man looked horrified turned sharpley back into his seat. By now feeling like a guest who outstayed his welcome then the lady who ask me what I thought said 'that will be all for to night' The lights came back a man who had sat next to me said ' I would have rather see your photos of pubs than that crap we had to look at' it would seem I had at least one fan that night. Then I made my way to the nearest exit like my life depended on never dared to go back.  :D

ironsky - I can just imagine  :))

The photographic society have been going for years and using the Library Lecture Theatre.

I would imagine the photo's you have of pubs would be very interesting to anyone who value history and to have some of pubs which have closed in Chesterfield is wonderful a hobby.

We have just returned from York and paid a visit to the railway museum.
Entering a room and sitting down we watched a  goods train passing ==== and passing ==== and passing === and =========
Hubby and I looked at each other and remarked that surely it must be going round in circles as we have never seen one that long.
Just as we were giving up - the end of the train came into site =======

Next came footage of fields over looking a valley - very pretty - 5 minutes later it wasn't looking so pretty!
We were just deciding whether to go - when - A TRAIN whizzed past in the valley =================
Then we were back to that frigging same dormant shot of the fields and the valley ============

Just couldn't stand it anymore - we both fled the room  :))

I was really interested in joining the The Photographic Society and phoned the number advertised on a display in The Pavements.  Someone answered and before I had chance to explain why I was calling I was given short shrift so I put the phone down!  They probably assumed I was a cold caller, but why on earth didn't they hear me out especially as the number was advertised on one of their displays.  I was proper miffed I can tell you  :(
