Disability Labour
« on: September 24, 2014, 04:26:30 PM »
Just read a very good article about Disability Labour - a proposal for how Labour would engage with folks with disabilities if they get into power at the next election.

Two paragraphs stood out for me, they were:

"It is easy to become disengaged with a rich, white, male political class. Particularly when their very purpose appears to be to erode basic standards of living from people who are already disadvantaged."

"This is the time for politics to work in the favour of people who need it: the parents skipping meals to keep a roof over their children's heads, the disabled adults in one of the world's richest countries left without the support to wash, eat or leave the house. Disabled people, bruised by four years of a Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition, need leaders to listen and then represent them. They deserve better."

I hope this comes to pass as the arrogant monsters that form our current coalition have got away with appalling behaviour over the last four years.

Thanks Pete I have shared that on a site for disabled people.
Will digest it fully later - it looks interesting.

I have been in discussion about the Government, calling people in for a reassessment, of their awarded benefits for the ESA which the
government have brought out.

Some have been waiting for over 12 months and whilst they wait they  have limited money and so struggle - crafty eh.

I am wondering after the next election and hopefully a different party gets in what the situation will be with such a back log of claimants?
If they are reassessed as going back into the same group they will be back paid - the next party could well be left with a lot of money to pay out!!

I have ( as you know) just had confirmation that my daughter is in the Support Group of the ESA, which is where she should be.

However these forms are not easy to fill in, it took me hours of research, and then typing all evidence out (12 A4 sheets) before posting it.

Many can't do it - the forms are designed to confused -

Nasty Party is the correct name for these slugs of the UK.

That's it - you set me on a rant now  >:(

Too bloody true we do Pete.

The next hurdle for me is the DLA to PIP assessment which daughter will have to have at some point.

I have a template of this form - 35 PAGES to fill in.

Another form designed to fail as many as possible  >:(
