Has this gone back to square one then with the roundabout just wondering if others think it is a better plan than the lights?
More than 190 people attended two consultation events organised by Derbyshire County Council in December 2013 and January 2014 and gave their comments on new proposals for the village.
The new proposals include:
* Removing the traffic lights
* Putting in a mini-roundabout highlighted in a different coloured surface
* Introducing a 20mph zone
* Putting in two raised Zebra crossings on The Green, Mansfield Road (outside the entrance to Eastwood Park) and Hasland Road (outside the Lucas Memorial Homes).
* Closing off Chapel Lane East at its junction with Mansfield Road
* Amending the kerb line on Hampton Street
* Putting in different coloured surfaces to highlight the crossing points (from where to where?)
* Removing the planting area outside the Pet Shop on Mansfield Road to improve visibility of the Zebra crossing
Councillor Dean Collins, our Deputy Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, said:
"Over the past year we have listened to what local people have had to say about this junction and these proposals will both improve congestion while still keeping pedestrians safe."
Councillors are set to look at the new proposals at a meeting on 15 April.
Traffic lights and crossings were originally installed to replace a mini roundabout and zebra crossing following a high number of road accidents.
But residents raised concerns after the lights were put in place − particularly in relation to congestion and the timings of the lights.
£160,000 has been made available to change the layout of the junction and introduce new safety measures. The traffic lights will be taken out and used elsewhere in Derbyshire
