Southend train worker suspended over track rescue
« on: September 05, 2013, 05:44:59 PM »
A railway worker has been suspended after going on to train tracks in Essex to help a disabled woman who had fallen off the platform edge.

No room for heroes anymore?

I believe that's the norm now, with your camera phone ready?  He only did what any normal person would have done.

I think you are missing the point.
There are rules and policies that have to be followed.
This guy 'broke' the rules.
Therefore there has to be an investigaton.
And that invariably involves someone getting suspended so they cant tamper with evidence or get at witnesses.
I have no doubt that at the end of that investigation this worker will be cleared and allowed to return to work.
Bob Crow is being a bit disingenuous. if the rail company didnt follow process and patted this worker on the back Crow would be the first to use that as a defence for the next worker who jumped down on to the tracks to retrieve a £10 note or his lunch box.
