Thats a good idea Dave not sure I have ever seen any fly overs around Derbyshire apart from over the bypass from Heath/temple Normanton, (sorry I use that road a lot to get to Calow Hospital and still don't know what it's called) although I am sure there must be some.

You are right in that it does need a fast car at times to pull out from there so anyone with a small car/engine will struggle at times.
I will be waiting with interest to see what they do -

The answer is a flyover for the A61 through traffic.

Wasn't that the original idea ?
It got shelved because the bottom of Hady Hill section over ran the budget big time.
Or is that just old wives tales.

But I do think your suggestion is a good one.

Do you suppose the proposed budget may cover it this time round Fly?

I doubt it. I'm more bothered about the congestion the work is going to cause. Especially on a roundabout I believe doesn't need lights. Neither does the Tesco or Horns Bridge ones.
Just for the record, Our_Lass agrees with me.

Langer Lane? Didn't think there was much of a problem there Slacker?

Only for people who live on Grangewood  :))

There isn't really a problem except during the rush hour if you are turning towards Chesterfield but turning towards Clay Cross can be a bit more problematic. The main benefit would probably be to the people of Wingerworth who would no longer get through traffic going down to the Tupton roundabout it if was easier to turn right at Langer Lane.

As for the original design of the bypass. It's easy.
Roundabouts are about 90% cheaper and quicker to build than flyovers.

The main problem with Whittington Moor roundabout are the drivers who dont seem to understand what the lanes or indeed the white lined sections near the centre are for!

It's not really saying what they plan to do but am I reading it that work to other roads which ink to it may have work done to them to ease conjestion? Trying to get out of the Whittington hill road can be -'not for the faint hearted' at times.
Try it in a bus - even a good one thats got plenty of oomph is going to upset someone coming off the bypass at a ridiculous speed.

You  have a point about drivers coming off the bypass at a speed, I'm not sure if others have found this as I used to (don't do much motorway driving now) but I had a problem keeping back to the 30 speed limit when I initially came off the motorway.

I agree with pureparty though drivers do fly round at a speed round it and then suddenly veer off when they realise they are in the wrong lane.

Off topic but I was driving towards Chesterfield today from Clay Cross area along Derby Road.
Doing 50 MPH when a wasp otherwise known as a motorbike over took me just before the Mill Lane/Nottingham drive turn offs.
Bollards in the middle of the road there for right turning traffic - he 'just' made it - idiot.
