Should the BBC play ding dong the witche is dead?
« on: April 12, 2013, 04:34:00 PM »
The song has been pushed up no. 3 in the charts by people rejoicing in Thatchers death.
The BBC is to play just 5 seconds of the song durung the charts show.
The last time a song was banned was Relax by Frankie Goes To Hollywood which was pushed up to no. 1 because of this.
Is this taking away the freedom of peoples speech by cutting this track down, or is it the right thing to do in respect for Thatchers family?

Doesn't mention Thatcher's name does it? Probably the oldest number one ever at around 74 years (think Laurel & Hardy held the record)

No  :) it doesn't mention her name but obviously they know why it has shot up the charts after her death 25000 sold up to now.
I reckon they would like to ban it - but think it would only race up to number one if they did.

I'm sure her family are aware of the hate some people have for her anyway - everyone is entitled to their own opinion on her and what happened back then.

Sex pistols - God save the Queen. I understand this one being banned.
Relax - FGTH, never understood why that was banned. Made the band members millions though  ;)

This one. I'm older, wiser, put the baby to bed. Don't air it.
Sales of the record should be passed onto a charity, Oxfam etc, not I-Tunes.

I don't agree to a tax payers funeral for her though.

Ding dong for number one I say :-)
You just know the BBC would follow its Tory masters, look how many pro Thatcher supporters they had on their channels the day she died.

I heard Maggie's last request was to be cremated, only problem is she closed the pits, so there's no coal left to do the job . :-)  :D

Is she being cremated or buried?
I would think where ever she is put it would have to be a secret or private grounds would,t you? It seems there is a rival song coming called I love Margaret Thatcher? I wonder what the BBC will do with that????

She's being cremated and put in the ground somewhere in the area of Chelsea Hospital where there is a wing named after her. Dennis is there as well

Interesting article by Brian Reade in the Mirror saying those who want to celebrate her death should be allowed to do so.

Some of what is in the report was being put to the BBC radio one chap, as in people should be free to celebrate her death if they wished. In our culture I suppose it's uncommon - but hey this is maggie and many still hold onto the hatred they had for her back then. - Is it so wrong then of people to rejoice?
One of the reasons the BBC didn't want to play it all they say is because it would give too much publicity to the song and why it was resurected and in the charts - by doing this they have maybe defeated what they set out to do
Chelsea hospital grounds - someone will no doubt try and find her!!!

Won't be too difficult, there's a photo on the BBC website of some flunkie measurung where the urn will be put. I guess they will use a lot of concrete to make sure it can't be dug up.

Bot even going to contemplate what may done done to it. They should leave it alone though, taking things too far if anyone touched it don't you think.

If 20,000 people have bought the record, then it should be played. She made herself a lot of enemies with her devisive politics, hence, "They that sow the wind, shall reap the whirlwind".

But you know as well as I that many people would have got behind the Facebook campaign that understand little or nothing about her, and are going along with it just because it's a laugh. But hey, that's what folks do in the current cultural climate - a future she had a major hand in creating.

I'll be glad when it all goes away.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
