Elections 2013
« on: April 05, 2013, 02:56:43 PM »
List of candidates for 9 county council seats in Chesterfield and the 2 by-elections. Quite a few UKIP and some independents

Quite a few UKIP & Independents seem to be former LibDems

Is that the ex Chesterfield fc player who does/did work for CBC?

Only one Libdem defector to UKIP, Keith Lomas but you are right that Paul Mann, Mick Bagshaw and Adrian Mather are now independants.
Interesting as well that current sitting councillors, Ray Russell and Mark Higginbottom (Libdem) and ex Libdem now independant David Stone are not seeking re-election.
Prediction 8 Labour 1LD.

The boundary changes give LibDems less safe seats than before. David probably wouldn't expect to win as an Indie. Loundsley Green is interesting with 3 people who have been LibDem councillors

It is though the 2 independants have no connection with the seat whereas Tony Rodgers has served in the area for numerous years. I'd still expect him to get beat though simply due to the current political climate.

Ron said he was having a crack at politics when he retired.  That and his allotment :-)
