Tupton Local History Society March 15th at 6.45pm.

We have a Zoom presentation on The Tupton Bombings 1941.
This will be presented on the 80th anniversary of the bombing March 15th.

A local Tuptonian farmers son from years ago is going to present this for us.

I wonder if this has any bearing on something my mother told me when I was young, I'm going back 60 years now. From what I remember of what she said she told me one evening, during the war, a German bomber had crashed landed near here and the police were mobilised, I think she said it might have been on or near Tupton wreck.
Allegedly one of the airmen was later spotted hiding in an outside privy behind the terraces on New street Grassmoor and was arrested. It would be interesting to find a little bit more detail about this {story} as the main railway line cuts through here and bombers did follow railway lines to targets by looking for the fires on board the trains knowing they passed through populated areas.
