Believe no sports is a mistake I think...town is crying out for decent sports viewing bar type place and with a summer of international football coming places will be busy for them.

Not surprised you didn't leave a clean plate bransoj that was one mighty big steak to consume.

I'm surprised not many pubs in town have a large screen - Smithy Pond used to have one, not sure if they still have it?

One thing i always wanted to do was open a proper sports bar in town with loads of TVs showing loads of different sport all the time or for big events all showing the same thing. As a country in general we love sport and folk go to great lengths to watch it, only have to see the thousands that travel the world watching it, but Chesterfield bar pubs in places like Brampton or similar in other areas there is no where to go and watch stuff should you want to. I cant think of one place in town that offers the option to be able to watch an event should you want to. In fact the lads i play cricket with went out just before xmas round town but also wanted to watch some boxing that was on later in the evening...they ended up having a few in town then walking down to the Riverside Club to then go back into town afterwards!

You surprise me bransoj. I actually thought the large screens showing sports were the 'in thing' to have in pubs these days.
What's stopped you from following your dream?

I think you need to be careful with big screens, they need to be installed in a way so they can actually be viewed properly and get decent amount of folk to be able to see them. You dont want pillars etc in the way, if thats going to be the case you are better off having better decent sized TV screens dotted around in different places so more people get a proper view. Also in my sports bar set up it would be a case of having, if possible as i've never really checked, having a system where different tvs can be set to show different sports from different channels but for big events all show the same thing so a multi TV set up would be better. I suspect with the right sort of satellite TV set up you should be able to get UK\US sports to cover most of the hours of each day especially during summers. I'm amazed no where in town yet has dropped onto the idea of a Superbowl party as yet...its getting bigger all the time over here and i suspect there would be folk who would go somewhere filling up a pub\bar from sunday evening into the early hours of Monday morning. My brother went to one at the Forum in Sheffield and it was rammed.

As for me following my dream and doing it...i was never brave enough early on to do it and now not really in a position to do so. Maybe if i win the lottery it will happen!

It certainly sounds like a good business venture bransoj - as always it sounds as if it needs someone with money to put it into practice - if you take chances on the Lottery you never know - it may be you!! 

I have heard that the food in Harry Ramsdens/Wingerworth is good so we may give it a try eventually.

One of the reasons why pubs don't bother with Sky Sports for example is the cost. Because its live TV and in a public place they have to pay a lot more for the licence many pubs in Sheffield used to have sports TV but the cost of having it got too high and many don't have it now.
