Father's day
« on: June 21, 2015, 09:50:25 PM »
I'd usually alter my facebook profile picture to one of my late dad for the day, but my mum got upset last year when she saw it so this year I didn't. Doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about my dad today. Just not shown it in a way I'd like to  :(

Love you dad, always will.
Father's day isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'll shut up now  :-X

I got two bunches of flowers and a picture of a chimpanzee with glasses on.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Hubby had cards gifts from the 3 girls and our Godson.
I made some burgers  one daughter made an Apple Crumble - followed by chocolate cake late - All foods he loves.
I also invited my elderly uncle who has no children and now on his own since my aunt died.

We had a lovely afternoon

Oopppsss nearly forgot we washed it down with wine  ^-^

As a ps I use the D.T's obits  and Birthday, Christmas, fathers/mothers day light a candle on their page.

Don't need facebook for that  ;)

My two had mother doing a good poisoning job on them when we split up..I work on the theory that as long as they are happy, they know where I am if they eyed anything. Eldest's birthday tomorrow, I will stick a card through the door.

Sounds like teenager conversations Fly.

@ JR, I can never understand why some parents try and put their children off the other parent when they split up.
Don't they want their children to be happy in the knowledge that even though mum and dad have separate lives they have their blessing to keep in touch.

To be fair I had the extra marital affair and to all intents walked out on them. This of course gave mum the opportunity to paint herself as the victim. Actually she also became far more of a mum to them than she had ever been when we were together so if daughters do need their mums maybe that was a good thing. We kept hoping that as they grew up and learnt more about the real world they might realise I wasn't the bad guy in this but the eldest is 22 tomorrow and her sister is 20 in November and there's been no sign so far. Like I say they are both happy and making their own way in the world so it's fine by me.

Such honesty is a credit to you JR, however IMO eventually it's better for the mind and soul to put the past behind us and mover forward. Keeping negative feelings against anyone does us no good at all.
They may well regret the missed years one day x
