We shop in Lidl and Tesco and have bought milk from both, depending on who had the best price.
As nicheuk says it is down to what people can afford to pay for the weekly shopping - times are hard.

I suppose the answer would be for pressure to be put onto the people who are selling the milk on at a cheaper price ( 25p instead of 30p ) to the retailers such as Morrisons ( who are themselves struggling I believe ).

A minimum selling price of 30 pence should be implemented if this is causing big problems for farmers.

Now isn't this interesting (and I mean no offence to either of you when I say this). OC and nicheuk both make the same point. It's down to what the people can afford to pay and if that puts a downer on farmers then sorry but ........
So when the government turns round and says ah well sorry we can't afford to pay for the nhs and social security systems and if that puts a downer on certain sections of society then sorry but, how come we are all up in arms about it? Or is it simply because we are on the right side of the 'I'm alright Jack' argument regarding cheap milk. (Indeed any food) so it's ok this time?

Farmers are adaptable. If supermarkets DICTATE a price to them, they will diversify. Otherwise, buy your own Farms, & work them yourself with your staff & pay them a decent wage. If that puts a downer on farmers - thats supermarkets fault dictating the price they will pay for comestibles.
I'm sorry, I'd rather pay for decent food from a farmer supplied local shop - supermarkets are cutting corners & staff which worries me frankly
