No one is safe- City link goes bust
« on: December 26, 2014, 05:05:28 PM »
Hearing about City link going to the administrators made me wonder, how, when we are told internet shopping is big business, can a big business fold?
Couldn't even be honest with their work force either!
We have a friend -  a postie, who tells us they have been pulled out with work on the run up to Christmas - and there's me thinking the Royal Mail was on it's way out.

At least state owned businesses keep going - this is another problem with bringing big business into the public sector. They cut prices/wages to the bone and even a small cash-flow problem, or some such, can bring them down.

Another Nasty Party debacle?

What do you think?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Internet shopping is big business, it creates millions of parcels to be delivered. The problem is that the delivery business has to become cut throat to compete. When Yodal can get away with paying drivers 50p per parcel compared to say dpd who pay £2.50 then eventuality someone has to go under. Nature calls it survival of the fittest. Fact remains that your internet bargain is less so if you pay £15 to have it delivered. So if a delivery firm does go under we as consumers are as much to blame.

With all the online shopping someone must be making a success of delivering
