Quiet Rant - pot holes
« on: June 02, 2014, 05:59:01 PM »
Last year at some point I reported a problem via email with holes on our street where the road surface has worn away.
Someone rang and asked for clarification of where the problem was.
it wasn't difficult to spot, multiple holes down the centre of the road at the top near the post box.
I duly had an email advising me it had been done -
Not so!!
This year it is worse and again i reported the problem along with another pot hole lower down the street.

I've had no response as yet!

Next door neighbour has been complaining about it to hubby today and a councilor has reported it as well.

It's impossible to miss them as they are slap in the middle of the road ( white line area ) and as there are cars parked either side we don't get the option to avoid them.

Reason for this rant today - i have had an email from Derbyshire bragging about how much money they are spending on roads and I know for a fact they now have two very expensive pot holing machines.

Wish they would get their fingers out and do our road - it's not doing my tyres any good  >:(

Do they drop the tarmac from a great height at speed and hope it sticks in sittu ?

Or will they put traffic lights up for the day, and whack a bit of tarmac in with a heavy stick ?

I will answer my last question myself.
Yes it's been done thank goodness.
However as it was a patching it won't solve the whole problem as looking at the area it could do with a proper resurfacing.
Happy enough though that it's made it a little better for driving on. :)

Compared to some of Sheffields roads, Derbyshires are smooth.

The route I take to work is quite good, until I get to the edge of Sheffield and then it goes to pot (hole), sorry.  Considering the roads I use are bus routes, the state of the roads is horrendous.  I hope when they do it they remove those stupid speed humps.

Best one though is here, well placed that you can actually drive around it: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=East+Bank+Road,+Sheffield&hl=en&ll=53.358428,-1.437922&spn=0.000026,0.022724&sll=51.528642,-0.101599&sspn=0.567297,1.454315&oq=east+bank&hnear=E+Bank+Rd,+Sheffield,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=16&layer=c&cbll=53.358452,-1.437744&panoid=gIy-sqhGb8RWk1terYLN4w&cbp=12,284.84,,0,24.19
