London Taxi Drivers protest
« on: June 11, 2014, 05:45:58 PM »
One for Fly this.
I've seen some of the news today about the traffic jams in London caused by taxi drivers.
To be honest i didn't really understand what it was all about.
Something to do with using an Apps to book taxi's??
Sure you will explain it to me Fly  :?

Could have sworn this had been spoken about.

Basically the London cabbies have thrown their dummies out cos they think there will be less flagged fares on the streets.
They are probably right. Previously, if people wanted a cab, they either phoned a firm(hackney or private hire), or stuck their hand out and flagged a cabbie(hackney). Now they can book a 'car/cab' and get a price/quote from an app on their mobile.
I don't get the bit about the taxi meter though, I don't know the rules of London taxis ?
Can't see the app affecting taxis in Chesterfield. None of the companies would sign up and pay UBER for the service LOL
