Bolsover Residents not using Burgundy Bins Correctly

Bolsover residents are contaminating their burgundy bins it seems.
Nearly 10% of the recyclable waste has to go to landfill.
I never wanted the bins in the first place it was bound to happen, too much sorting out and confusion which waste goes into which bin.

Bolsover District and North East Derbyshire

They gave me a bin and asked me to put stuff in it so they can sell it. Here's the argument.
Did me participating in the programme save me any money, did I get a reduction in my council tax, or did my participation help keep my council tax down.
I see it more as another dreamt up scam so someone somewhere can make some money and use the term 'Being green'.

As for contamination in the bins, I part blame CBC for starting their version of the scheme at a later date.
Bolsover/Chezzy, nextdoor neighbours but a big difference in bin contents.

I think Chesterfield has spot on  now glass goes in the top. Surely the weakness is in the Bolsover system if a high percentage aren't getting it right?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me. Surely glass is better in the bottom of the main bin ?

Have you got a comparison chart that shows me details of the 2 councils achievements ?
There's more crap and papers blowing around on bin day in Chesterfield than I see in Bolsover.

Lightweight cheap blue bins, waste of space, if I remember from another post on here

Now paper goes in the bottom I've not seen paper blowing about. Glass can't go in with paper and cardboard so glass in the top seems best solution. Not sure if we'll be allowed to take photos of the stuff being separated.

Read up on the Somerset Waste Partnership - that's a whole county that has it 'spot on'.

Having visited the ultra-modern recycling plant I am impressed  by how all the materials are separated by screens, vibration, lasers, magnets, airflow, a range of conveyor belts and some hand picking. Only a tiny percentage fails to be recycled.
