Comic Relief

Currently stands at over £75 million! That is amazing.

It's very understandable when people query why we spend money on other countries when as a country we are in bad shape - but after watching Comic Relief on Friday evening I was so impressed and proud of my countrymen and women who gave such a huge amount of money, voluntarily, to those worse off than ourselves, those abandoned by their own people and left to die in squalor.

It was just so sad to see those poor kids suffering, it even made an old, hardened b*stard like me wipe the odd tear from my face.

And a big well done to the guys that pulled this event off, it must be one of the hardest feats in tv entertainment to produce a show that goes from abject poverty and death over to some very funny people and sketches all on the same show.

Compassion is not dead - makes me proud to be a Brit!
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

It does though it rather begs the question that if Comic Relief can do that much with £75m how come our £10 BILLION in foreign aid that we dole out each year doesn't seem to be eradicating the need for such charity efforts.

(ps big shout out for all my colleagues up and down the country and our customers. £10.5m announced on Friday as a contribution with the figure set to go much higher after we have finished fund raising and selling the merchandise)

Don't know about that Jon - that's one for the politicians...  ::)

I just wanted to celebrate the level of compassion and humanity shown to those less fortunate than ourselves.
