Police & Crime Comissioner

Anyone know anything about this? We've got our voting cards but have not been contacted in any way by any of the candidates.

Just another waste of public money, badly implemented by the authorities. IMHO.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

There's a piece by each of them in the DT this week, not sure if it's available online.
Candidates from Labour, Tory,  UKIP and 2 independants

Everything will be available from this Friday

http://www.choosemypcc.org.uk/

As far as I can see one person replaces the Derbyshire Police Authority (made up of appointed councillors and a few independants)  and gets a nice £75k salary for doing it. Bit like those towns and cities who have gone for an elected Mayor rather than a council.

Not sure they are that universally popular but if we're having one we want our candidate.

Interestingly qualification is stricter than for an MP or even an archbishop with criminal convictions even as a juvenile barring a candidate; this included Falklands hero Simon Weston who had a minor offence as a kid.

Had a read of a few bits of stuff on various websites.

My vote will probably be:
1st Rod Hutton.
2nd Alan Charles.
