Me and Our_lass have had letters from them:
Pity the new docs aren't on their website yet. I'm keeping the letter  >:
The schedule 4 on 'taxi rank etiquete' isn't online either. So I can't read it yet.

As regards DSA tests. New wording is.
Paragraph 3.4.2
Existing drivers will only be required to pass the DSA practical test if they are convicted of dangerous, careless,
reckless or inconsiderable driving consistent with the relevant DVLA codes.

Thankyou CBC  :)
Why they came up with the idea that we'd have to have prove we could drive
after holding a full car licence for over 20 years a-piece is beyond me  q?

Visions of Eric at the Town Hall at a taxi consultation meeting.

Eric: I've been driving 20+ years. Why do I need to prove my driving capability ?
Councilor: Perhaps you need to prove your still capable ?
Eric: You've been on the council 20+ years, are you still capable. Prove it ?  :))

No offence intended but Ive seen some "professional" drivers act like complete arses on the road.

Agreed. Taxi's. Bus's. Van's. HGV's etc

Quote
But we should expect better of the professional drivers whom we entrust our lives to when getting a ride home.

Also agreed. PM me if you want numbers for decent taxi drivers.
I've been in this trade 17+ years. I know who I trust for a ride home.

Not a U turn the A & R committee (of which I am a member) listened to representations by Eric who stepped in at the last minute to represent the drivers. Don't recall the remark about long serving councillors though.

I did start that post with the word, 'Visions'  ;D
I never stated he said it. Bit loud though isn't he.  ;)
He's like a Dennis Skinner for the taxi drivers of this town  :))

So are you confirming the issue in my original post is correct  q?

I have looked on chesterfield.gov.uk, but some of the files date 2010 or 2011.
Very contradictory  :-X

All Stagecoach bus drivers(in Chesterfield) now monitored by Greenroad.com devices. GPS, and the lot. Only been on it a week and I'm apparently the 6th best bus driver out of 150 or so. Its supposed to help with fuel saving and fraudulent claims against bus accidents etc. And the promise the management will not hold your "events" on this system against you......."events" being harsh braking for example.
Time will tell..
Apparently Eddie Stobarts on the same system.
And National Express.

More controversial was should taxi drivers be suspended if being investigated for serious crime?

Yes I think they should. But that wasn't mentioned in the letter we received.

A few years ago my daughter set up a wheelchair safety campaign for this area, after having some scary rides in taxis.
These days there are rules about the transportation of w/chair users - some still flout the safety rules as she found out a couple of weeks ago, but how can it this be completely stopped --- it can't unfortunately!
Being suspended is like being judged guilty before the investigation isn't it?

Public safety is essential, there are cases of rape and violence, but it is also possible for someone to lose their income for 2 years ( as cases can take that long to come to court) only to be cleared.
