Not a bad idea Fly.
For all it's faults we still have a workable rail network in this country only trouble is it is becoming less and less attractive to the commuter and as a result less passengers less revenue, but it could still be utilised in delivering freight, less juggernauts on the roads less carbon footprint.
Same with canals....you can't get a much more greener way of moving freight around the country than towing barges, if we haven't enough canals then build more, plus the fact they are pleasing to the eye unlike building evermore motorways.
