Probably so, and more Characters too. God knows we have some "characteristic" folk in town nowadays, I bet there were even more back then. People were certainly better dressed in those days - who'd go shopping in a suit today?

The pace of life was slower and more dignified. People had time to be 'characters' now they are too busy trying to keep up in the rat race.

My first boyfriend bought me a silver friendship ring from Kendrick Fieldsend.  I think my mums wedding ring came from there too.
