Lets restore what we have first but I'm forgetting Labour like spending money we simply don't have.  :))

I have to agree with this point, Nicheuk.

Yes things are getting done but its things that don't need doing. Building a new Queens Park Leisure centre that's has no budget for running costs so it must run on thin air. Northern Gateway project has been a joke right from the start why spend money on project when we have already units that are empty ? Lets restore what we have first but I'm forgetting Labour like spending money we simply don't have.  :))

Leisure centre and market hall were in a poor state of repair. Major capital projects are funded by long term borrowing. Availability of grant and partnership deals with council keeping control are of course a bonus.
Northern Gateway looked an exciting project. unfortunately on hold because it needs a major retailer as the centrepiece. whatever happens Saltergate multi-story needs a lot of work

We have been in the Market Hall. 3 units standing empty?
All the money which has been spent on one would expect it to be a thriving hub - but it's not

That's a sad fact OC.  Prior to the refurb the Market Hall was buzzing with shoppers, but each time I've been in it's like a little ghost town.  I have specific places I like to go in there such as The Watch Box for batteries etc. and one of the butchers down the slope, though I always enjoyed a browse round the other shops. 1001 Vac Spares could always be relied upon to provide that elusive vacuum belt that you couldn't get anywhere else.  So suddenly all the great little outlets have diminished apart from a few, therefore shoppers are not only losing interest but trust as well.  Just my humble opinion.

@ Gerty we also use one of the butchers in the Market Hall, have done for years.
We have a bulk delivery from them every so often.
After asking how things were since they moved back we were told that initially things were busier than before, but once things had settled down they find it quiet with generally just passing trade.
Big let down by the sounds of things.

@ nicheuk - it may be that you could get your potted meat from the Market Hall?

Jon - they're politicians...
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

To do this using branding that is 40 years old would set them up for failure.
Sorry, didn't read it all word for word, but did see your earlier comment :-(
