Yes vote for air strikes against IS
« on: September 26, 2014, 08:11:41 PM »
From the DT's FB page.
Quote
Two Derbyshire MPs, Dennis Skinner (Bolsover) and Nigel Mills (Amber Valley), have voted against UK air strikes on IS militants in Iraq. Toby Perkins (Chesterfield), Natascha Engel (NE Derbyshire) and Patrick McLoughlin (Derbyshire Dales) voted for the intervention.

Labour split then who's right ?
Here's a comment I've posted on the FB thread.

Barry Fly Featherstone So who's right Dave Longden, Skinner or Perkins. No I don't want to see lots of innocent civilians killed, but someone has to do something to stop the radical extremists. Go back and read David Martin's post. I don't know what to say, talk about sat on the fence

Never normally in favour of violence but this one has to be. unfortunately. and help is actually being asked for.
Did I hear right that 60 countries were in with this?
Or did they say 16?

Not sure on that one Pam.
Possibly 16. If they are going to have air strikes, I hope they make them in the right place
Sadly I fear the USA will do the usual and miss a few :-(

The bombing will do no good, exactly the opposite.

I think its time time the Muslims took back their religion from these monsters.

Why should we have to do it?

Beheading people in 2014?

Come on
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Pete I don't think we should have to do it - but it seems as if the more that unite the better.
I heard on the news yesterday that the airstrikes have already made a difference as IS is having to change tactics.
Eventually they will hopefully run out of these.

What has probably had some persuasion for us to join in is the be headings - we don't generally need much anyway!

This explains the mess our warmongering government and their allies have got us into. The important sentence is, "And all this was started by us invading a country to drive out terrorists who wern't actually there until we went in to drive them out.

No doubt the rich will get richer from it - and a lot of innocent people will die.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

About as clear as mud that is Pete.

Here is a clip from a newspaper.

The airstrikes - which employed U.S. Tomahawk missiles, B1 bombers, F16, F18 and F22 strike fighters and drones - was backed by support from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and the UAE - a coalition of nations that has agreed to assist with the destruction of ISIS.

If IS is supported by Saudi Arabia - why are they bombing them.

I wouldn't disagree with that poster Pete.
It's the way things are -  pots of money for somethings and not others.

The threat we are under is very real and these people need sorting.
They are very clever and also rich.

Sadly the only way is for multiple nations to stand together against them.

I am in the process of writing a cheque for a Poppy to go to Flanders.
If these brave men gave their lives for our country at least our country should unite with others against this organisation who threaten us - and they do.

If this Government really wanted to, they could find a decent wage for the nurses and put money into the NHS.
Truth is they are not bothered - they want it to go private!
That's a different thread though.

costs us £35k for the Tornado whether we fly it somewhere or not.
The arms are the only real cost.

The tornado is more effective. The typhoon was built as a fighter and though it can be used for air to surface attacks it's not its primary role.
