Think this in preperation of the Tour De France.

Cycle carriage

During this period normal cycle carriage policies will apply, but passengers are advised not to take cycles on trains in order to avoid disappointment or delays.

Unless you have a cycle reservation, passengers travelling with cycles should leave lots of time for their journey, as they may not be able to board their planned train and have to wait for a train with available cycle carriage space.

Do the rail companies really believe there will be a massive increase in cyclists using trains ?

Railways are far too expensive.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
