At last - a half-decent proposal
« on: April 27, 2013, 07:52:59 PM »
Ed Miliband proposes a kick-back for employers who set a worker on and pays them a living wage.

"The Labour leader suggests that firms could be offered either tax reliefs on training or capital investment, or lower business rates, in return for paying the living wage."

"The Institute for Fiscal Studies has calculated that for every pound spent paying the living wage, the Treasury saves 50p through not needing to pay tax credits and benefits."

Sounds like a plan to me - but probably not to employers who will only paid the absolute minimum wage as set in law.

The Featherstone brain says 50p of every £1 I pay in tax is paying their over rated, inflated wages.
That's what pi$$es me off the most. Quango think tanks on £50,000 per person, a year, pulling the poor man down.
It's time for a total rethink of government.

Here's an idea to start it off.
Politicians wages directly proportional to the good they have done as voted by the people of that area.

That's all well and good Flyboy, but the thread's about Miliband's proposal. What's your thoughts on that?

Set me on the payroll then Pete. Pay me a 'decent' wage. I'll work for you,  ;)
Promise I'll work hard  ;)
