I've never heard about any PP. Bit of an eyesore isn't it.

Yes, it's an eyesore plus it must be sat on land thats pretty valuable development wise??

I wonder if it's still Royal Mails?

It belonged to the AGD (Chetwynd House) in the old days and was apparently sold via sealed bids some years ago. Don't know any more than that.

It was offered to the council some years ago for extra public car parking but needed far too much money spending on it to bring it up to a useable standard

'Some years ago', I've worked in town for 15/16 years.
I ain't heard owt about it. Well, apart from the concrete rot it's suffering.

Would a new buyer for the site be prepared to pay for the demolition of it ?
Is this why it's been there for so long, unused ?

'A few years ago'
well I was still at the council so that's at least 6.
Think it was when I was still in charge of admin as opposed to the number 2 so thats at least 9

it's got 'concrete cancer' and also at the time the access routes and bays were not big enough for public usage (though they did open it for public usage at weekends)

The council were never offered the site and thus the opportunity to demolish and start again. They were offered use of the exsting building on a fee sharing basis but they (the council) had to foot the bill to put it right.

I can only assume cost of repair or demolition far exceeds value of land or potential income from building
