Too scared to speed. ITV, on now.

Emergency service vehicle drivers face prosecution for breaking road traffic laws if involved in accidents.
Sorry, accidents may happen, but compared to the amount of lives saved !!

Should police just start a blanket 'no pursuit' policy,
ambulance and paramedic drivers just take their time,
fire-fighters not needing to slide down the pole ?

Highways call out crews:

Many occasions police are ringing up pestering them to hurry up. unlike the blue light services though they aren't exempt from speeding fines.

Unlike the 999 services, I don't suppose the drivers are trained to that level.
Therefore shouldn't be expected to do 999 response like driving, regardless of heckle by police.

Think this moves onto another 'Jeremy Clarkson subject'. Why close the roads for hours, just get the traffic moving  :!

Is it still the case that the only vehicle legally allowed to go through a red light is a Post Office van?  Something to do with Queens mail?

The program said 999 vehicles should slow down to 5mph on approach to a red light.
One person was killed when a fire engine ploughed through one at about 40mph.
This was one of the cases where they tried to prosecute the driver.
The 999 call was found to be a hoax call !!!!

Another case was when a police van driver drove over a hump backed bridge about 40mph,
mis-judged it, lost control on 'landing', and hit a cyclist.
The cyclist survived, but his life is ruined due to injuries received.
The police driver wasn't prosecuted, but resigned from the force because he felt so sorry.

Without googling it, I wouldn't have thought the Post Office had any clauses.
If they did, would blatant misuse of it still hold them responsible ?

Longest road closures are fatals where scientific support conduct a thorough investigation
