GROUSEFEST returns to The Grouse, Brampton on Bank Holiday Sunday 30th August with 11 of the region's best musical acts joining forces to raise funds for Ashgate Hospicecare at the annual rock & booze fest.

Included in the line-up are long-time supporters DFACTO, YOUR NEXT and CRACKIN' RIGHT FOOT alongside new faces such as BAD LANGUAGE, BARNIE RUBBLZ and THE JAMBUSTERS.

Cranking the amps up to 11, TOWARDS THE SUN and FULL THROTTLE cater for those that like a heavier edge, with party-rockers SOME KINDA MUSHROOM and ESCAPE PLAN providing light relief.

The day is rounded off with a headline set from the internationally renowned tribute to The Blues Brothers - JAKE & ELWOOD BLUES who have been wow'ing audiences across the continent for more years than they care to remember.

Landlady, Jodi, said "GrouseFest is the pinnacle of our musical year and, somehow, we manage to raise the bar every time; it's a great community event to raise funds for a cause that is close to all our hearts with some of our favourite bands who have played in the pub over the past 12 months"

With a hog-roast to quell your hunger and an outside bar to quench your thirst, be sure to shake your tail-feather and head down to The Grouse this Bank Holiday Weekend!

Free Entry - First band on at 12.30pm - Donations to Ashgate Hospicecare appreciated.

Chesterfield Discussion / Re: Royal Oak
« on: December 05, 2012, 07:39:07 AM »
The Oak was served with a 48 hour closure notice due to underage drinking and was closed from 8pm on Friday, they got vandalised on Sunday night and windows smashed so Enterprise Inns have had to board it up to protect their property.

Regarding Oakstock, if you are a regular reader of these pages you would know that "Oakstock Reborn" was held on Sunday 25th August (as per the banner on the side of the pub which is still there) and that the "minor event" of Bank Holiday Monday was actually the event which was due to be held at The Badger, Brockwell but fell thru due to complications at the venue and was kindly taken on by Alex & Becky and had to be held indoors due to the weather (it rained if you remember)

Maybe if people actually frequented the pubs instead of just lamenting when they have closed down...

Chesterfield Discussion / Re: Band Marathon today in Queen's Park

I saw a tweet from @chesterfieldbc inviting bands/musicians to get involved... the only problem being they sent the link out TWO DAYS AFTER the closing date... or we'd have tried to be involved.
