Not long till 2015 one  :)

When people moan, just think of those who fought in the war, and those who were knee deep in water in the trenches, yes, makes you think !

'If you have to walk a couple of miles so what'? There are a good many, myself included, who just can't do this. Surely we are deserving of a little consideration too.

If it's ideas you want for the route then the obvious answer is to map out a shorter route keeping away from residential areas as far as possible, and run several laps. not a complete answer I know, but it will minimise the problems.

Hardly anyone complained really, maybe less than 10 folk , not many considering the population of Chesterfield.

less than half a day of the year, well they are doing it again in 2015, i will do the half marathon, you can cheer me on. :-)

As for the laps idea, you tend to get a bit light headed when running, and keeping count of laps would be a nightmare.

I do the 5k in queens park 4 times past the leisure centre , its easy to lose count when running a mile every 6 and half minutes.

Where do you need to get to anyway? just curious?

Seen them!
Just flew over our village, from Ashover/Wingerworth area heading towards North Wingfield.

We had just gone in doors locking both back and front outer doors when we heard them - dashed ouside but no time to get camera's focused onto them.

Bugger!!

Amateurs! lol, its not like you didnt know they were coming, saw them out of the window, looks like they flew right above ashover rock on way to j29.

Looks like one or two were waiting on the rock  :)

It was good last year when they flew over the dams, lancaster, spitfire and a 2 GR4'S if i went to this id feel cheated with less aircraft  :)

Id set off early though if going, parking will be a nightmare and mass traffic jams  ;)

Would love to see the vulcan fly over the dams but cant see that happening at all.

I wonder where they will go after the dams, down the valley, past curbar, chatsworth etc?

A lot , well not that many really, just a few moaners, those who say rethink the route, come up with some suggestions!

Seems a few cant even think for themselves as well, if you needed to get out, park your car out of the way, if you have to walk a mile or two so what.

Good job a lot of you weren't born or alive during the blitz, those Germans, dropping bombs! we cant get out of our house.

26 miles is quite hard to plan , its only a few hours as well, like someone said, the support in Hasland was great.

How do other places cope with marathons? London ,Berlin, Chicago etc, oh yes, they support it.

At least it gave folk something else to moan about instead of the sculpture  ;D

I went yesterday,a free trip as we were on the guest list, was pretty good and great weather, got quite busy as we were leaving,The Chinese love it, Chatsworth must make a load of money these days with £3 parking then £18 for house and gardens , or £12 for gardens only.

Have to say the house is worth it, you go round Hardwick Hall and its pretty empty inside, Chastworth house is full of stuff.

who is responsible for cutting hedges? the landowner?

The hedge past the church on Churchside, Hasland is massive and growing out, its tricky not to go on the road which is very busy.

Can anyone pull a few strings??  or cut a few twigs  ;D

The water supplier claims they weren't paid in advance (as their terms required) and sent several reminders which weren't acted upon.

A bit weird, if they weren't to blame, why would they offer free water next year?

one thing i hate about these mini roundabouts is cars doing u turns on them, saw it loads in Hasland in the past, and still do on that one near the park, and people do it on that one in Grassmoor as well. They struggle to get round in one. crazy drivers!

cant see it changing much, as long as you have traffic lights at the top near andys chippy, you will always get a flow of 7 or 8 cars coming down every 30 seconds.

The organiser Margaret Lilley doesnt work for SCC.  Therefore you cant blame the Council.

she seemed pretty clueless on the tv
