Title: Parking ticket!
Post by: poppy on August 29, 2013, 07:50:48 PM
Went into town with my daughter today. Arrived 2 o'clock. Bought a parking ticket for an hour to take me up till 3 and put it on dashboard with residents free parking badge which is valid after 3pm. Got back to car at 4pm to find parking officer had stuck a £25/50 fine on my windscreen for parking after ticket had expired. Question is does anyone think I have a hope of getting it cancelled? I plan to phone the number on the Free parking badge but the parking ticket was issued by some parking company. What do you guys think??   :(

I was parked on the donut. Used the residents parking disc there loads of times with no problem.

I'm ok for pan tokens thank you but I will ask at work when we go back next week if anyone needs any. Thanks for popping those through the letter box the other week by the way.  :)

Hello OC. It doesn't say, so I assumed it would be ok. I'll ask tomorrow when I phone. It seems really mean to me if you aren't allowed to use it that way.  >:(

Get down to the Town Hall and insist on seeing someone about this issue.
Put your gripe on paper first so you can give them a written complaint about the ticket. Donut is CBC parking.
The phone number on the ticket is for the company CBC use. Get in touch with the council direct.
If you paid till 3pm and your, ChesterfieldChris, sorry, resident pass, is from 3pm onward, I think they're in the wrong.

Keep us informed  Poppy;)

Looks like a error, make sure you keep your ticket an appeal

I interpret it the same way as you.   I often pay for an hour or even half an hour up to take me up to 3 o'clock.  Hope you get it sorted.

It's ridiculous - I remember when I worked at M&S the staff that worked the 4pm to 8pm shift had to pay for two hours parking and then leave work at six to put another two hour ticket on - they couldn't buy a single four hour ticket to take them straight through to eight o'clock!

Phoned council this morning. Lady who took my call a little on the sharp side, spoke to me as if I was a little deaf or maybe daft, maybe even both. Never mind. She took some details then told me that the date on the residents parking disc had been obscured by the paid parking ticket  :( For all the parking man knew I could have done that deliberatley to disguise an out of date permit. I told her that was certainly not my intention and asked her if there was anything I could do to get the ticket cancelled. Only thing to do was to write to parking people and explain. If they thought it was a genuine error they might let me off. So OH did me a letter and have sent it off with scans of permit and paid ticket and promised to be more careful in future. I'll let you know ......

Have you had resident car park permits before 'this year'. How could it be out of date  ::) :-X

This is the third year they have been issued. They are identical except for the date. Might be a better idea to use different colours each year, then the parking man would be able to spot an out of date one easier.

I wasn't aware of that Poppy. I thought it was a new thing this year.
I knew they had done 'on street' parking for the last few years. Another excess on council tax IMHO.
I have to use Pete's 'Visitor' pass when I call to see him.
I could park at yours and walk to Pete's if I wish. Typical example of the council taking the P.
Closer you get, the more you pay for it.  Come on CBC,

Except, when you leave them on display, they fade/bleach to white!

Had a letter from the "Park Smarter" people today. It was headed "Notice of Acceptance of Challenge" and went on to say that my explaination had been accepted and the penalty charge notice has been cancelled. :) OH does write a good letter ;)
