Title: Tent town in Chesterfield
Post by: poppy on July 26, 2013, 07:04:16 PM
Did anyone else see the "protest" in Chesterfield on the news? A few tents on Rose Hill gardens, folk protesting about bedroom tax, described as "tent town". Apparently they are sticking it out until tomorrow.  :o

Glad the weathers nice for them.
Can't see it making a blind bit of difference though.
Do local councils actually get a say on the bedroom tax ?

Obviously a reply to you Poppy, but with a question to an open forum.
Didn't want you thinking I was barking at you.

Surely it's better to mount a peaceful protest than just take everything that is thrown our way?

A peaceful protest has just been taken against CBC's Queens Park plans.  ::)

And well done to Alan for making a stand.

If folks didn't make a stand we'd be back in the Victorian era in a heartbeat with these greedy, money obsessed shower in charge.

I have parked on rose Hill car park today and didn't see them would have gone and chatted to them if I had.

Good idea, think my daughter would have joined them for awhile as well had we known as she has to pay it.

No the councils didn't have a choice on it the government enforced it - and now it seems no one wants the properties with two/three bedrooms and people seem to be getting bungalows faster???

ps wouldn't get me nesting overnight in a tent though - too many insects.

It's the Labour party undertaking the QPSC. Where does that leave us?

"Didn't want you thinking I was barking at you"

Didn't think that for a minute Fly.
When the report was on the BBC it came across as a bit shambolic. I just thought that if it had been better advertised then more people would have had a chance to support it. Whenever Chezzy does get a mention on the local news (which isn't very often) it never seems to show us in a very positive light.  >:(
