Anyone know of owt happening?
There's some sort of Chesterfield Street Entertainment Festival on Saturday - http://bit.ly/Sk8boG (http://bit.ly/Sk8boG)
And we're off to Oakstock (Royal Oak) on Brampton on the Monday.
-
Nowt at all, sadly. Might have a look at some of the street entertainers.
-
As usual I'm playing in the annual 'do's and Don't's' golf competition at Stanedge (a golfer who 'does' hits the ball tee to green and then a guest who 'don't' does the putting)

If you ever fancy spoiling a good walk at Stanedge give me a yell. Mates rates naturally
-
Might have a mosey on down to the oak depending on weather and what we are doing :)
-
Grounded at the moment :(
-
Oak sounds good.....to drink or not to drink that is the question
-
DRINK !!! :))

We're considering going here Sun or Mon.

£8 per Adult.
£7 per child, (bit steep ?)

There's a hog roast and entertainment at 'Back to the 90s' on Monday - proceeds going to two charities, one of which is National Breast Cancer Helpline.
It starts at 12:00 and, contrary to the Derbyshire Times, goes on until 3am (not as they put 3pm!)
BTW can someone teach DT staff to spell..........front page of this weeks issue was the word REGENRATION - spot the error!
-
They're a bunch of numpties at the DT - on the gigs page they advertise the Badger gig which has been switched over to the Royal Oak for a while now.
It's a pity they don't read this forum - they'd be more up-to-date than they are now.

Here's the amended (and correct!) DT version:
PEAK FM’s Becky Measures will be hosting an outdoor festival with the Back To The Nineties bar, on Holywell Street, Chesterfield, to help raise money for two worthy charities.
The Back to the Nineties’ event, on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27, will be supporting Help For Heroes and The National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline and it is due to take place behind the Chesterfield bar from noon to 3am. Jason and Kashryn Field of Back To The Nineties have organised the event.
Jason said: “This is a new and exciting adventure. We are really looking forward to helping both causes and to putting something back into the community.”
The day is going to be a jam-packed day of entertainment from noon until 3am featuring ten hours of local live music talent including Aquablakk, Chelsea Redfearn and A Tribute To Agnetha and Frida from Bjorn Again.
There will also be a hog roast served up on the terrace, face painting and an outside bar. Entry is £1 with proceeds going to the charities and under 10s can get into the festival for free.
Pure Party, Kirkby Hog Roast, Backline Entertainment, Mainstream Foods and JMA Leisure have also been integral in helping to organise the event. For more information, please contact the bar on (01246) 231108 or add them on Facebook www.facebook.com/backtothenineties (http://www.facebook.com/backtothenineties)

I love the Tropical Butterfly House. OK, the initial price is a bit steep but as an old fart .... erm, I mean "wise old owl," I have a ticket which allows me admittance for £1 during term time as many times as I like :)
-
Me thinks that's gone up to £1.25 per visit :(
Perhaps that's based on, 'this years prices'
Just us two, we can cope with the £16 entry fee. Will let you know if and how we got on ;-)

Nice pictures. Glad that you "quite" enjoyed it :)

We opted for an impromptu wee day trip to Edinburgh to see the amazing talent on display at the Fringe festival. It was a beautiful sunny day and there was really far too much to take in. Spray can artists, street dancers, unicyclists, puppeteers, magicians, jugglers, orchestras, choirs ... and even a solo belly dancer. We really enjoyed the experience.

*Jealous*

Thanks, OC. It was a really nice day and I even had time to buy a pair of tartan shoes .... well, it would have been rude not to ;) :)

My mum's been up there for the last few days. Now in the Orkney's visiting family,
really ought to text her and see how she's getting on.
Wonder what the mobile coverage is like up there :)

Hoping to go on Wednesday with our granddaughter
