Homebase
« on: December 28, 2011, 07:38:08 AM »
Was Informed that Homebase is shutting at the end of the January,
due to lease being up, and the landlord will not renew, because they
require the land. the landlord being Chesterfield Council.
looks as though they are going to relocate somewhere else in chesterfield.
How True is it.?
Slacker, can you shed some light on this mate ?
Sounds as though they are going to Run a Road through to the PC World
Retail Park, now that would be a good thing judging on the recent parking
problems during the sales.

Not heard anything. Didn't know council was the landlord as much of the land round B & Q is privately owned.

Homebase closes on the 28th January.  The landlord is not the council but because the council want the land, he decided to triple the price if they wanted to renew the lease which homebase head office was unwilling to pay.  They are not relocating it is closing for good.  And it is because they want to run a road through that is correct.  alot of people are being made redundant because of this....

So does this mean the council, or someone, is going to pay over the odds for the land to put a road in.
Sorry about the job losses if this is the case  :(

Thanks for the info, Be a Shame if it closes for good, leaves it wide open for B&Q.
What I Posted, I was told by an Employee, and that Homebase were looking for
an alternative site.

Who is the landlord?
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

If Ghosthunter is who i think it is (putting 2 and 2 together and making 5) I think he will know the facts.
Be a shame if it does go, the New B & Q is rubbish in terms of customer service.
