Thanks Kent, it's quite a large spread out area isn't it.
I'm wondering now if they will move everyone else eventually and sell it off.
Any thoughts?

The following is from Derbyshire County Council

There have been recent reports from residents in the Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire areas regarding suspicious callers.

For those who aren't too sure who Medequip are, they are the distribution service used by Derbyshire Social Services for adaptation equipment, such as Profile Beds (hospital beds) Ceiling Tracking Hoists, Lifting Cushions etc etc. The equipment is generally used by elderly/disabled people in our community.

Doorstep calls are being made by people claiming to be from Medequip, saying they want to service people’s home loan equipment. They expect people to pay for this service and this is NOT THE CASE.

Medequip, who provide an equipment service throughout Derbyshire, do not make unsolicited visits and never charge clients for servicing or repairing any equipment. Medequip always visit in liveried vans with ' Medequip Community Equipment Services' clearly displayed and staff always wear uniforms with the Medequip logo

Medequip always contact people by telephone to arrange deliveries, collections, servicing and maintenance visits. If they can't make contact by phone after 2 attempts they will drop a card through the door asking the client to contact them.

If you hear of, or receive this type of bogus call, contact Derbyshire Police immediately on 101.

When I said, "I think people who are nervous about roundabouts should get some driving lessons." it was not a pop at anyone. But maybe some folks, like me, passed their test in the 50s and 60s could use a few lessons to polish up their skills and get their confidence up.

>> I can get round it ok - it's the others I don't trust

Wise words, as also told to me when I was learning by my father. He taught me to read the road ahead and to treat every other motorist as a potential idiot... ;) :)

Exactly my point, it's a game of wits getting round it. Anticipation is the only way to try and avoid being hit. Too many idiots who can't drive properly, don't know how to change lanes or indecate correctly.
We will always have those on the roads
returning back from town along Derby road this morning, sirens blaring I could see the blue lights heading my way in my mirror. I indicated and pulled over - white van man going opposite direction into town carried on travelling - police car had to stop at the back of me DERRR.

I'm still wondering what type of person would want to share it anyway - just to show how horrible it was!
Sick!

What exactly is Walton used for these days apart from the rehab, some social services and  orthotics.
Years ago they had an operating theatre there, have they still got one?

Chesterfield Discussion / Change of Speed Limit A61
« on: October 22, 2013, 08:03:04 PM »
Update from DCC

Changes to existing speed limits along a stretch of the A61 have been approved today (22 October).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To help control the speed of traffic through Stretton Village and along the A61, we have agreed the following changes:
Reduction of the 50mph speed limit to 40 mph on the A61 Stretton Road, Clay Cross and A61 Main Road, Stretton (south of Clay Cross through Stretton village), to the south side of B6014, Morton Road
Introduce a 40mph limit between the 30mph limit through Clay Cross and the 50mph limit to the north of Clay Cross.

Our Deputy Cabinet Member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, Councillor Dean Collins, said:

"We are always mindful of road safety and the effect speeding traffic can have on people's quality of life.

"By introducing these measures, we hope to maintain a steady and safe flow of traffic on this stretch of a busy road."

Work is due to start later this year.
