The new Labour Leader
« on: September 13, 2015, 10:03:38 AM »
Jeremy Corbyn is the new Labour leader and it's not going down very well.

He seems a bit of a strange one to me and I watched him throw a paddy at a camera man last week, he reminded me of UKIPS Nigel Farage as he used to lose the plot.

No hopes for Labour - or is there, will Jezza surprise everyone?

>> it's not going down very well

With 60% of the vote? I'd call that doing very well. The Blairite candidate only got 5%...

Personally I like him very much, but do not expect him to do well as the media have got it in for him big style. If he saved a child from drowning the media wouldn't mention it. If he farted walking down the street, he'd be headline news.

He has chosen to take on all the injustice in this country - and that's a lot. His enemies are the most powerful men in this country, the ones that make billions but pay no tax - they'll go after him like hounds after a fox. Poor bugger.

Anyway, good luck to him, I say and good luck to his deputy Tom Watson. Different guys, different views, but both putting people before profit.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Same here Fly.
No women in the high profile jobs?
Is this just because Jezza feels women should be slightly in the background? or is it because he felt the men were better equipped to handle these jobs as in experience?

In 1992 John Smith recognised that a left wing Labour party was unelectable in Britain following the success (?) of Thatcherism.
He started the process of modernising the Labour party.
Tony Blair took up this work and whilst you can argue that he went too far in some areas he laid the work for Labour to be in power for over a decade (something now that the revisionists like Slacker would want you to forget).

Whilst there might be an appetitie in Scotland for socialism (and they do have the advantage of not having to foot the bill for a lot of things) I doubt very much that there is the stomach for it in England.

Asfor the right wing media again it's amusing that no one was complaining when the S** supported Blair.

Jeremy Corbyn’s new shadow cabinet is older and more rebellious than its predecessor – and women now make up the majority of its members.

In total, 16 out of 31 ministers (52%) on Corbyn’s frontbench team are women. This compares with 33% in David Cameron’s current cabinet and 47% in the shadow cabinet that Harriet Harman was leading until last week.

Not sure where you're getting your information from OC. Have you been reading the Daily Mail?  ;)

No it's been on the news this morning and later today it stated about the majority of women were in the front bench.
I also watched Jezza this morning silently walking when asked about the high profile jobs being given to men - he needs to find a voice and be ready and able to answer questions thrown at him Pete.

Not convinced he's 'The One' for Labour - lets see how it unfolds

I think the point is that the 'big' 5 (leader deputy chancellor home and foreign) are all men. The Tories have one woman at the top table in Theresa May. That said once Harperson Kendall and Cooper are ruled out there aren't that many big hitting women currently in the Labour Party.

Great day in parliament today and Jeremy Corbin's first major wins over the Conservative mean machine. Nasty George Osborn had to do a £4.4billion U turn to prevent him and Cameron become the most despised men in the country, with their penchant for hurting the worst off people in the UK.

After their defeat in the House of Lords which fair cheered me up, they threw their dolls out of the pram, and I expected more trouble as a result. But as the level of complaints kept rising, including Tories, some from Cameron's own constituency, even that thick-skinned pair had to back down.

Remember this day folks, it shows there is still some compassion left in this country.

Let's hope this is the start of a turn away from these evil monsters and their obsession with making more money for the very rich.

Here you are Pete, from the Benefits and Work - I got it on Monday.

Housing benefit now in the firing line

Category: Latest news
Created: Monday, 16 November 2015 20:59
There are widespread reports in the media that George Osborne is now considering cuts to housing benefit as an alternative to big cuts in tax credits.

It is claimed that Osborne had been considering a raid on universal credit as a way of cutting the benefits bill after the House of Lords wrecked his plans to tax the working poor by slashing tax credits. However, Iain Duncan Smith threatened to resign if universal credit was hit and, bizarrely many may feel, instead of biting his hand off, Osborne has backed off and looked elsewhere for savings.

It now seems that he may hit housing benefit claimants instead, the majority of whom are also in work.

Claimants will have to wait until 25 November to find out precisely where the axe will fall.

Wining one battle doesn't win a war OC.

If you want to be proactive, find which working men voted Conservative and kick 'em in the goolies...  :))
