The Walton St Augustins Road
« on: June 20, 2015, 08:58:39 PM »
What's happening with the pub does anyone know?

It's had metal covers over windows and doors for awhile.

Yesterday we noticed wooden covers had replaced the metal ones.
This morning a police van was parked up outside and workmen were putting a large wooden fence around it?

Is it being pulled down?

I didn't drive past it yesterday. Typical, rest of the week I do in a morning.
Not heard anything on the ranks  :-?

Either demolishing it or major work?
It seems to have changed hands quite a bit lately, so maybe no longer worth keeping open.

I was on 39's (Holme Hall - Strangewood) this evening and as we drove past,  some passengers were discussing it.
I overheard a lady saying that it's going to be demolished to make way for a nursing home.
At least it's not a convenience store  ;)

Bit of a hazardous place for a nursing home scimitar, it's on a busy main road.
Our senior generation have a canny habit of getting out and going walkabouts!

Not with security keypads on the doors! My recently deceased FIL was in Brimington care home.  As visitors, we had to be let in, and out by staff. You get the occasional nutter trying to get in to these places because of the medications that are on site. They have to be secure for the welfare & safe keeping of residents & staff.

Mrs Wolfbanger was walking our pit bull and  passed this pub, she noticed a note on the boarding. Apparently demolition is set for the 10th August. Only went in once was ok place.

I drove past on Wednesday and the gates were open but it was busy on the road so couldn't really get to see what they were doing.
Shame really another pub bites the dust

It's saying Asbestos - if there is enough Asbestos in the building would it be safer to take the whole lot down?

Also I wonder if anyone has taken any photo's of the pub - niche ( RIP ) would have done if he was here

The whole building is being demolished OC. Safe removal of asbestos is just part of it.
What I meant was is, there are no applications for anything to be done with or built on the land once the pub has gone.

I'll bet there a sneaky plan or two waiting in the background Fly.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
