Totally agree with Fly's comment to Pam. I've also worked for 50 years, and sometimes doing 3 jobs at once. We deserve our retirement - we've damned well earned it. I think Lord Bichard (the guy at the centre of all this controversy) must reside on a different plant to the rest of us!
Good luck Pam in your own retirement - go please yourself - be a lady wot lunches - have treats - relish the time with your husband. If you want a cohort to join you in anything disgraceful, you know where I am
Quite right Gerty he will be some jumped up twerp who has had a silver spoon in his mouth from birth. The retirement years should be ours to do what we want with it, and if like you it's volunteering work then that has to be constructive and positive for you.
Who knows maybe in a year or two I may get bored with my time and offer to volley for some organisation - but that should be MY choice not someone elses.
They will be sending the children out in the fields to work before and after school next as there's no pits and very few chimneys to shove them up.
We will definitely have to meet up for a disgraceful coffee one day Gerty
By the way folks - what we haven't told is we are setting up our oldies dancing team to go on BGT
