We've got lots of egg-citing activities on offer this Easter
30 March 2015

There's something for everyone this Easter with lots of fun-packed activities happening across the county from egg trails in the countryside to woodcarving spoons or trips to some of the oldest railway workshops in the world.

Elvaston Castle Easter Eggstravaganza

Friday 3 April 10.30am-3.30pm (turn up any time) Elvaston Castle

Family friendly crafts, activities and games. Plus the famous Elvaston Golden Egg Trail. Follow the clues to crack the code and claim a chocolate treat.

Railway Workshop Open Day

Saturday 4 April 11am-3pm (turn up any time) High Peak Junction Visitor Centre

Visit some of the oldest railway workshops in the world and see them come alive, have a go on the forge and make a useful poker with the help of our Engine House Wardens, or blacksmith, who will be able to tell you all about this fascinating time capsule of a building.

Hopping Mad

Sunday 5 April 10.30am-3.30pm* (turn up any time) Shipley Country Park Visitor Centre

Bring the kids along for some Easter fun. Four activities on offer: follow the Easter Trail to find the hidden clues and discover the secret word. Return to the start and meet the Easter Bunny (*present until 1pm), collect your chocolate treat and a colouring competition sheet. Then use our treasure map to hunt for hidden bunnies and concealed chicks in the courtyard.

Egg-celent Easter Fun

Monday 6 April 11am-2.30pm (turn up any time) Linacre Reservoirs, Chesterfield

Come and join the Easter fun at Linacre Reservoirs. Follow our self-led quiz trail, explore the woodlands around Linacre and solve the clues to lead you to an Egg-citing Easter end.

Spoon Carving Workshop

Sunday 12 April 9.30am-4.30pm, Shipley Country Park Visitor Centre

This is a one day workshop to teach the use of axe and knife to carve wood. It will be a safe introduction to woodcarving, with the aim of producing a spoon of your own to take away.
