Black Friday
« on: November 28, 2014, 12:32:15 PM »
Ok folks can someone fill me in on this.
Where has it come from?
What is at all about?
Did we have one last year?

I have switched on the news this morning to see people half demented in the shops after bargains?
Don't we have the January Sales anymore then?

Scenes today in UK:

Check this out, disgraceful behaviour as we adopt a more "American" way of life. Tossers.

Just seen a news clip. Barmy.
We didn't get the chance to go shopping. We had to go to work..
Apparently some shops are continuing sales over the weekend so might have a nip.
Only thing we actually need is a fridge freezer, but we have loads of Tesco vouchers towards it.

So pleased I shopped yesterday, certainly wouldn't have liked to have been in Tesco's today or any other shop with these sales on.

I know someone who went to a shop at midnight and eventually got to bed about 3am. Got a £50 for £20.
Going back to the last time I worked nights, supervising gritting, I'd want a lot more than that for doing a 3 hour shift at that time of night.

We had people queuing from 3.30 (come straight from work) and about 70 people came in when we opened the doors at 7. Was reasonably civilised compared to the tv pictures. I'm not sure what benefit we gained from it given that a) very few if any were regular Sainsbury's shoppers and b) the customer bought the cheap item and that alone.

How great are the savings on items reduced then, are they a practically 'give away' or just 'run of the mill' sale prices.

Yes sure does. We have been to Peak Village today and I bought a pair of shoes.
The receipt said 10% off for Black Friday  :-? err how come cos it's Saturday ----- isn't it   ::)

Anyway very festive there with the lights and Brass Band playing Carols.
I notice they have introduced parking fees/ meter. About as clear as mud TBH -

We all love a decent sale and a good bargain, but FGS don't even get me STARTED on this Black Friday shite.  Greed, greed, greed.  Just turns normal people into crazed idiots, and for what?  A small percentage off the price of something that may well have been top-loaded anyway.

Ok rant over  >;
