I would love to do a trip on the steam train - wondering if anyone on here has?

I've been on a Pullman Carriage pulled by the Flying Scotsman. It was only about 500yds and then back again though.

I did Settle Carlisle behind a steam train 2-3 years ago. It was an ambition of the father on laws so we took them

What are your thoughts on it JR - was it worth the money as I know it can be pricey

We drove to Crewe. Got on a diesel train to Preston. Steam train was put on there. Took us over the viaduct and into Carlisle. Hour or so stop in Carlisle then back down to Crewe via a different route. 3 options for fare. Full catering (lunch and dinner) high tea or just the train fare. We took the high tea option think it was £120 each. It was a good trip but unfortunately it was a very cold winters day so the views were spoilt by fog and also the windows steaming up because the train was so hot. Next time the company e mail me I will send you the details

Cheers JR.
I have looked at the journey's in the past, don't some through Chesterfield?
I know they can be pricey as well, shame about the weather though as the scenery is the big part of the journey to me.
