OC, up to Grassmoor, down Birkin Ln past the ponds, left, over the Bypass down Deepsick lane, left through Calow.
Might not be the best route, but it's a choice  ;)

I always go that way to the hospital Fly, it's after when I take her to Newbold I will be looking to change my route.
When I go to collect her I was thinking of Wingerworth and head for West Street in town

I'd like to know precisely how this £300,000 was made available. I read that it's from the European Regional Development Fund and Barratt Homes so the UK is paying millions into the EU and some of it is being paid out in sums of £100,000s for totally pointless arts projects on roundabouts. What about the Barratt Homes contribution? Match funding presumably or is it S106 money that is being frittered away?

What a stupid place for a sculpture, on a roundabout where no one can get close to it or walk round it - it should be named Burrow's Folly; a totally misguided application of public money. CBC should concentrate more on the problems facing the town, not tarting it up.

Quite right Dave, why couldn't they have made it a feature in the Queens Park if they really wanted one

If it's what I think it is then it's a scheme that's been around in chesterfield for years (probably 20) called percent for art. As part of any major planning application the council ask the developer for a 1% of the application sum to provide a piece of art for the site.

Barret homes gave towards the £300,000, the 'European Regional Development Fund' paid the rest. Cough, tax payer  ::)

I think you're right Jon - and I think our Brian had the artwork on Storforth Lane made when he built the new AW headquarters.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Why wasn't it thought out prior to starting the work!
